Turn Your Wins Into a Career Story Recruiters Remember

Talent is common. The ability to communicate impact is rare. The professionals who advance are usually the ones who can make their value obvious.

The problem with how we talk about work

We describe tasks: "Managed the notification project." That tells a recruiter nothing about the outcome. Tasks are forgettable; outcomes are memorable.

The structure I use

Every strong career story has three beats:

  1. Situation — the context and the stakes.
  2. Action — the specific thing you did, not your team.
  3. Impact — the measurable result.

Rewriting a bullet

Before: Worked on onboarding improvements.

After: Redesigned first-run onboarding, cutting time-to-first-value and reducing "where do I start" support tickets.

Same work. Completely different signal. Practice this until it becomes reflexive, and interviews get a lot easier.
